Friday the 13th: The Game Kane Hodder

Last month, we shared the news that the FRIDAY THE 13TH video game that Gun Media and IllFonic are developing, a game which was expected to be shipping out this past October, had been delayed until early next year. While the delay may be a bit of a bummer, it's for a very good reason – the game was only going to be an online multiplayer game, but now there is going to be a single player option as well, with the single player campaign allowing fans to go on "several missions ripped straight from the films".

To help us get through the wait, and to continue to build up anticipation, the game makers have been offering early glimpses of their work by posting videos online. The latest videos can be seen below.

The first one is likely to bring a smile to the face of the franchise's fans, as it simply shows slasher icon Jason Voorhees, looking as he did in FRIDAY THE 13TH PART VII: THE NEW BLOOD (there are several different Jason looks to choose from in the game), standing at the Higgins Haven farm where the events of FRIDAY THE 13TH PART III occurred.

Next up is a two minute look at the game's menu splash screen, and the video mainly serves to let us ogle Jason while listening to a sample of the game's score, which was composed by FRIDAY THE 13TH veteran Harry Manfredini.

And finally, an 18 second look at some gameplay, centering on a camp counselor as she tries to escape from Jason and decides that the best way to get into a cabin is to jump through a window. Given how bloody this act makes her, I'm thinking it might not have been the best decision.

Friday the 13th: The Game is being made in collaboration with rights holder Sean S. Cunningham, who directed the original FRIDAY THE 13TH. Video game Jason is brought to life through a motion capture performance by four-time Jason Kane Hodder. The kills were designed by Tom Savini.

If you'd like to pre-order a copy of the game, you can do so at F13Game.com.
