Dreamworks animation must have a lot of faith in TURBO, the new animated feature starring Ryan Reynolds, Paul Giamatti, Maya Rudolph, Bill Hader, Samuel L. Jackson, Ken Jeong, Richard Jenkins, and Snoop Dog.  Not only is it their big summer release, but it’s also set to debut an original animated series on Netflix by Christmas. Now, that’s having faith in your brand…or just gambling the shit out of a film.  Today, the studio released the first full trailer for the film, which sheds more light on the overall story and introduces a number of characters that populate the film.

So, apparently TURBO is a bit of a superhero.  I see what you did there, Dreamworks.  This looks pretty fun overall and I’ll probably end up seeing it since that’s what parents do.  Thankfully (hopefully?) it doesn’t look like it will be a painful eyesore.  I like the talent involved and I think Reynolds shines best when doing comedy.  He’s also supplying a voice in Dreamworks animation’s THE CROODS, out this week.  Has he found a new niche?  We’ll see.

TURBO crosses the finish line on July 17, 2013.
