This year marks 35 years since the Ghostbusters saved New York City back in 1984 and dominated pop culture in the process. The Ghostbusters team has taken on many forms since then, including in cartoons and video games, but now after three decades and change, they have finally hit the tippy-top of success by being granted the honor of being turned into Funko Pops.

While they have been available as collectibles in Funko form before, this fun new tribute video (via SyFy Wire) goes beyond just having big black eyes, bigger heads and no mouths. The folks at Funko have taken the figurines based on the characters in the classic comedy – Venkman, Stantz, Spengler, and Zeddemore (played by Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, and Ernie Hudson) – and recreated their iconic final clash against the Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man.

Brought to life with some impressive and adorable visual effects, the team once again goes up against the soft-but-deadly baddie who means to crush them under his gooey hands, and in order to stop him, they must use their proton packs to destroy Gozer’s portal for good and all. The result is a very, very messy situation, but one that’s equally delicious. Too bad there wasn’t a giant chocolate bunny and graham cracker lady, because then this scene could’ve been even more special.

The video does an excellent job creating this animated video, sporting some effective mist effects and re-creating the eventual marshmallow splatter of the behemoth. In the end, the words “Happy 35th Anniversary” are laid out using the brains (or is that his intestines?) of the defeated Marshmallow Man. The lack of dialogue calls to mind some of the early Lego-themed video games, which of course were outdone by a hit movie series, so who knows, maybe this is the start of something for Funko down the line.
