Get caught in the turbine with Guy Pearce in this clip from Lock Out!

JoBloJoBlo

We’ve got a little LOCKOUT action for you today, featuring Guy Pearce tussling with one of the escaped prisoners in some sort of turbine thing-a-ma-jig.  The action set piece feels very familiar, but that doesn’t mean it’s not fun.

Take a look:

LOCKOUT has the potential to be a dark horse hit and the sci-fi genre could sure use one of those.  It seems like for every win we get, there are ten losses.  I don’t think it will happen anytime soon, but I’d hate to see sci-fi become the new western, where there’s maybe three a year, if that.

The film stars Pearce, Maggie Grace, and Peter Stormare, and follows Pearce’s character, Snow, as he is enlisted/forced to head into space and rescue the President’s daugther from a maximum security prison.  We’ve already beat the ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK comparisons to death, so I’ll spare you.  However, I think it’s a solid concept and, more importantly, a fun one.

LOCKOUT isn’t trying to reinvent the wheel, it seems, it just wants you to hop on and enjoy the ride.  You can strap in and take the journey on April 13, 2012.
