Halle Berry crafts the purrfect shout-out to new Catwoman, Zoe Kravitz

Not long after it was revealed that BIG LITTLE LIES actress Zoe Kravitz will be sharpening her claws as Catwoman for Matt Reeves' THE BATMAN, dog-fu master and former CATWOMAN star Halle Berry announced to the world that she thinks Kravitz is the purrfect choice to play the feline femme fatale.

Berry recently voiced her enthusiasm for Kravitz's casting via Twitter, saying that the MAD MAX: FURY ROAD actress is "eternally graceful and extremely badass." You can check out Berry's tweet for yourself below:

As you're likely to recall – though I'm certain that some would rather forget – Berry played a Catwoman alternate named Patience Phillips in Pitof's 2004 comic book adventure, CATWOMAN. Universally panned by critics upon its release, CATWOMAN was originally contracted to be directed and written by Tim Burton, who had previously delivered two stellar Batman films with BATMAN (1989) and BATMAN RETURNS (1992). Sadly, Burton's CATWOMAN project became buried in the development litterbox, and after some time, the film was handed off to VIDOCQ director Pitof. The movie went on to earn four Razzie Awards that year, including Worst Actress for Berry. The Oscar-winning actress held her head high while accepting the Razzie, knowing full-well that despite the film's critical reception, CATWOMAN was the highest-grossing female-led superhero film to date with $82.1 million. That is until Patty Jenkins' WONDER WOMAN blew it out of the water with an $812.8 million global gross.

Yesterday, THERE WILL BE BLOOD actor Paul Dano was added to THE BATMAN cast as Edward Nashton, aka The Riddler. He'll be joining previously announced stars Zoe Kravitz, Jeffrey Wright, and Robert Pattinson for the Caped Crusader's next big screen spectacle. With plenty of casting announcements yet to come, THE BATMAN is already looking like one of DC's most star-studded affairs to date.

Matt Reeves' THE BATMAN is expected to land in theaters on June 25, 2021.
