Haunt directors Scott Beck and Bryan Woods confirm a sequel is in the works

Haunt writers/directors Scott Beck and Bryan Woods have confirmed that a sequel to the 2019 slasher is in the works

Scott Beck and Bryan Woods followed up the massive success they had by writing the screenplay for the creature feature A Quiet Place by writing and directing their own film, Haunt, a slasher that takes place in a twisted haunted house attraction. Beck and Woods are currently doing press for their big budget sci-fi thriller 65, which was produced by Sam Raimi, and during a Reddit AMA session they revealed that a sequel to Haunt is in the works!

When asked if there’s any chance for a Haunt sequel, Woods answered: “We can confirm that conversations for a Haunt sequel are officially underway. Happy (early) Halloween!!

Produced by Eli Roth, Haunt is set on Halloween night and follows a group of friends who encounter an “extreme” haunted house that promises to feed on their darkest fears. The night turns deadly as they come to the horrifying realization that some monsters are real.

As the Haunt sequel moves forward, we probably shouldn’t expect Beck and Woods to write or direct the new film. As they said during the AMA when asked if they would ever write another entry in the A Quiet Place franchise, “We’re beyond grateful to see how the franchise continues and is starting to bring other voices into the stories (we love Michael Sarnoski who is writing/directing the next chapter). Our personal focus will continually be finding new original ideas that allow us to project something personal inside of them. We have the script ready for our next film… we’re shooting that this year. And then we’re working on building a movie theater called The Last Picture House in our Iowa hometown.

So I assume they would be producing the Haunt sequel while handing the writing and directing duties over to others.

While we wait to hear more about the Haunt sequel, 65 – which stars Adam Driver as an astronaut from the future who crash-lands on Earth during the prehistoric age, finding himself being hunted by dinosaurs – reaches theatres this Friday, March 10th.
