American Horror Story season 6 might take place on Roanoke

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

American Horror Story season 6 has been uncommonly silent on its theme, but after the show released three mysterious teasers last week, TMZ has nabbed some set photos that indicate the show might be taking place in an intriguing locale: the Roanoke colony off the coast of North Caroline.

The site of American lore's greatest mass disappearance, Roanoke is a place that is steeped in myth and superstition and a perfect theme for the stumbling show. After Freak Show and Hotel failed to wow most viewers, it might be great for the show to have a theme that's actually a uniquely American story instead of just the name of a building (Seriously. "House," "Asylum," "Hotel…" What could possibly be next, "Gas Station?").

The theme hasn't been officially announced, so for now we must treat this as what it is: a rumor. However, the pictures don't lie, and you can check them out below, along with a further gallery at the TMZ link above.

Lady Gaga, Kathy Bates, Denis O’Hare, Angela Bassett, Sarah Paulson, Finn Wittrock, Wes Bentley, Cheyenne Jackson, Leslie Jordan, and Matt Bomer star in American Horror Story: ?6, which will begin airing on FX on September 14th.
