Babadook director working with Guillermo Del Toro on "something scary"

One of the most beloved yet divisive horror movies of the past few years is writer-director Jennifer Kent's THE BABADOOK. The movie has its fair share of fans (myself included) and just as many people who think the movie is 'meh' at best. Kent has a new movie hitting soon called THE NIGHTINGALE (read JoBlo's review HERE) and today we have word that Kent is also working on a new horror-ish movie with none other than Guillermo del Toro.

Kent spilled the beans to our buddies over at B-D telling them that she couldn't talk too much about the project, but that it is "something scary".

Specifically, Kent told the site:

We’ve got something on the boil. I’m not being secretive but I’m not sure I can talk about it. It’s something scary and I really admire him and his work. I think he’s a true artist so I’m excited to know more. We’re in the early stages of that.

I can only venture to guess what the movie is, but maybe it's one of the millions of projects Del Toro currently has in the works without a director attached such as the recently announced remake of TERRIFIED, his Netflix horror anthology 10 AFTER MIDNIGHT, or another PACIFIC RIM movie (I'm joking?). I guess we'll have to wait and see just what this project is - if it ever comes to fruition. But until we know more, make sure to hit us up and let us know what YOU thought of Jennifer Kent's THE BABADOOK in the comments below!

Here's the synopsis for THE BABADOOK if you may have forgotten:

A single mother, plagued by the violent death of her husband, battles with her son's fear of a monster lurking in the house, but soon discovers a sinister presence all around her.

THE BABADOOK was written and directed by Jennifer Kent based on the short film by Kent. Kristina Ceyton and Kristian Moliere produced the film which starred Essie Davis, Noah Wiseman, Hayley McElhinney, Daniel Henshall, Barbara West, and Ben Winspear. Buy it on Blu-ray HERE.
