Ben Stiller re-teams with Madagascar director for horror/comedy RentAGhost

Last Updated on July 23, 2021

Back in October we learned that Ben Stiller would be headlining a horror/comedy on the way from Fox based on the Late 70s-Early 80s BBC children’s show RENTAGHOST. Now considering this was a children’s program I’m not sure how much this shite is going to fit in around these parts but we’re going to roll with it for now.

News coming in from Variety today finally has the project scoring itself a director! It seems Stiller will once again be teaming with helmer Tom McGrath for RENTAGHOST, which will be McGrath’s live-action directorial debut. The two previously teamed for the three MADAGASCAR flicks. McGrath is also the guy behind MEGAMIND… so there’s that.

RENTAGHOST centers on a recently deceased 27-year-old man who, determined to be more productive in the afterlife, creates RentaGhost, leasing ghouls, ghosts and other specters to the living.

Stiller’s NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM scribes Thomas Lennon and Robert Ben Garant are penning this shite with Kevin McCormick producing via his Langley Park shingle alongside BermanBraun’s Gail Berman, Lloyd Braun and Patrick Pidgeon. Andrew Mittman will co-produce.

So what do you guys think? You willing to give RENTAGHOST a shot or you want to write this one off now? How about the original show? Any fans out there? Spit some bullets below and let us know how you’re feeling about all this as we wait for more RENTAGHOST updates to roll our way.
