“Boardwalk Empire’s” Michael Kenneth Williams the latest to eye Robocop role

Well folks it seems this ROBOCOP reboot just keeps getting better and better. The thing is already building up quite the cast and according to The Hollywood Reporter’s Heat Vision blog we’ve got yet another name looking to join the project.

It seems “Boardwalk Empire” thesp Michael Kenneth Williams is the latest eyeing a role in Jose Padilha’s ROBOCOP. If all goes according to plan the actor (above) will be playing the partner to star Joel Kinnaman’s police officer ‘Alex Murphy,’ who is tight with Murphy’s family. Works for me.

In RoboCop, the year is 2029 and multinational conglomerate OmniCorp is at the center of robot technology. Their drones are winning American wars around the globe and now they want to bring this technology to the home front. Alex Murphy is a loving husband, father and good cop doing his best to stem the tide of crime and corruption in Detroit. After he is critically injured in the line of duty, OmniCorp utilizes their remarkable science of robotics to save Alex’s life. He returns to the streets of his beloved city with amazing new abilities, but with issues a regular man has never had to face before.

Along with Kinnaman the sci-fi reboot also stars Hugh Laurie, Samuel L. Jackson, Gary Oldman, Jay Baruchel, Jennifer Ehle, Abbie Cornish and Jackie Earle Haley. Already tapped with an August 9, 2013 release date, I’m sure we’ll be seeing more ROBOCOP updates sooner rather than later.
