Chris Carter on why X-Files S10 wasn’t up to snuff

Let it be known right off the bat that I didn't watch the 10th season of Chris Carter's THE X-FILES. I'm not a huge fan of the series in general but only because I've never had the chance to truly sit down and give it a go. That said, I did enjoy the hell out of the episode "Home." One of the few I've ever seen.

That out of the way, I don't know what people mean by season 10 being considered a disappointment, so I'm just going to relay this news straightforward. Recently Carter spoke with TV Line and dropped some insights into why he believes the 10th season wasn't as good as it could have been.

Chris Carter on X-FILES season 10:

We [relaunched] from a standing start after not having been on the air for 12 years — there was some reacquainting that had to be achieved. It was like old friends getting back together. We had to shake some of the stiffness out. … I think that we’re all in fighting shape now.

I don't know how you fans feel about season 10, but I would think it's comforting to know that Carter acknowledges some of its drawbacks and thinks any issues have been remedied now that it is time for season 11. I guess you'll see soon….

THE X-FILES Season 11 rundown:

The 10 episode season will start right where the previous season's finale left off, with that big helicopter and takes you right from there. You'll be launched into a very urgent adventure that has a lot to do with William — Mulder and Scully's kid. So the search for William will be a significant thread through the show.

THE X-FILES Season 11 stars David Duchovny, Gillian Anderson, Mitch Pileggi, Annabeth Gish, William B. Davis, Haley Joel Osment, and Barbara Hershey.

THE X-FILES S11 hits FOX Wednesday, January 3rd at 8 p.m.
