Demons’ Lamberto Bava and Geretta Geretta reunite for a new demon film

Just over three years ago, we learned that DEMONS star Geretta Giancarlo, a.k.a. Geretta Geretta, was writing "a DEMONS homage script" that was "more or less" her version of DEMONS 3. Now it looks like that project is moving forward, as it has been announced that Geretta is teaming with DEMONS director Lamberto Bava for a project that will "have DNA closely tied to Bava's original DEMONS film".

Delirium Magazine reported that Bava dropped the news at the Horror-Rama convention, saying Geretta is writing and directing the film, which will be

set and shot in the shadowy, steeped-in-the-supernatural corners of New Orleans.

Bava is co-producing and presenting the film, which is being produced by Kansas Bowling. Bowling will also serve as cinematographer alongside Michael Shershenovich, shooting in Bowling's preferred medium of 16mm.

Bowling got her film career started with the prehistoric slasher B.C. BUTCHER, which she made when she was 17. That film was picked up for distribution by Troma, and in the years since then Bowling has racked up over 30 directing credits and 40 acting credits. She has worked on Glenn Danzig's VEROTIKA, Quentin Tarantino's ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD, and was even recently working on a film project with some friends of mine in Alabama.

Bava says that teaming with Geretta on this DEMONS-esque project is

my way of bridging the past with the present and future. It’s like when Dario (Argento) ‘presented’ DEMONS, so I will do the same with this picture."

Details on the film are being kept under wraps for now, but we'll share more information when it's made available.

Filming is planned to begin in New Orleans sometime this year.
