Devil Inside director William Brent Bell heads to The Vatican for Warner Bros.

Last Updated on July 23, 2021

As if William Brent Bell, the director of the much hated but shockingly successful THE DEVIL INSIDE (sure people boo it, but it made an amaing $34 million this past weekend), wasn’t having a good enough week already, the man has just scored his next gig: THE VATICAN. No, it’s not a sequel to DEVIL INSIDE; in fact, we don’t know very much about it at all, but we’ll roll with it for now.

According to Deadline.com, THE VATICAN is a “conspiracy driven thriller” that will partially use the found footage format. That’s all we know for now, there’s no telling just yet if this project will ultimately fall into the horror genre. it was written by David Cohen, whose screenplay for NO ONE LIVES was brought to life last year by MIDNIGHT MEAT TRAIN director Ryuhei Kitamura. (It should be released sometime in 2012.)

Last month Bell’s name was mentioned in connection with KIDNAP, a suspense thriller about a woman hunting her son’s abductors. As THE VATICAN is apparently being “fast-tracked” by Warners, KIDNAP may just have to wait…
