Dolph Lundgren takes on zombies in video game adaptation Dead Trigger

Dolph Lundgren Battle of the Damned

I'm a big fan of Dolph Lundgren, so I'm always glad when I hear that he'll be starring in a horror movie. Lundgren's latest genre project is DEAD TRIGGER, an adaptation of the first-person shooter game that can be played on iOS and Android mobile devices.

In the game, you play as Kyle, a character trying to survive the zombie apocalypse. The film, which was directed by Mike Cuff and Scott Windhauser, takes a bit of a THE LAST STARFIGHTER approach to the concept:

DEAD TRIGGER is set in a world where a mysterious virus has killed billions and turned many others into bloodthirsty zombies. Unable to stop the virus, the government develops a video game, “Dead Trigger,” that mirrors the terrifying events that curse the world. The players who kill the most zombies in the game are recruited to combat the zombie horde in real life.

Lundgren (pictured above in another zombie movie, BATTLE OF THE DAMNED) plays Captain Kyle Walker, leader of an elite team that

travels to Terminal City, the origin of the outbreak, to find a team of scientists who have been working on a possible cure for the virus.  The only way to get to them, however, is through a city full of terrifying undead mutants.

Also in the cast are Autumn Reeser, Isaiah Washington, and Justin Chon.

DEAD TRIGGER is currently in post-production, and Voltage Pictures is presenting the project to potential buyers at the American Film Market.

We'll keep you updated on this one as more information becomes available. The story sounds pretty goofy, but it works as an excuse to have Lundgren lay waste to a horde of zombies.
