Dracula origin flick Vlad the Impaler to drop vampires but keep loads of blood

Last Updated on July 23, 2021

It’s been quite a while since we heard anything from the VLAD camp. You know, that Dracula-origin tale about Vlad the Impaler coming our way from director Anthony Mandler? We’ve been talking about this shite for well over a year but the last update was way back in February! So what’s the deal yo?!

Well thankfully MTV were wondering the same thing so they caught up with Mandler recently and asked him what the deal was. The director was quick to show his excitement for the flick and the potential casting. Scope out what he had to say:

“And I’m also deep into ‘Vlad,’ the origin story of Dracula. I think kind of shortly things are going to start unfolding. We have a rewrite that the story loves and we’re optimistic as to our casting. I can’t talk about that yet.”

Well that works. Not a huge update but it’s nice to see things are moving along nicely. So who exactly is ‘Vlad the Impaler’ and what’s this flick going to be about? Here’s the rundown:

The movie will center on Vlad III, Prince of Wallachia (now part of Romania), as he defends his dominion from the Ottoman Empire. The ruler had a reputation for horribly sadistic torture and execution methods, earning him the nickname Vlad the Impaler.

Word has it the whole ‘blood drinking’ aspect is going to be left out of the flick so there goes the vampire angle. Bummer. Worry not though, apparently VLAD is still going to be very bloody!

So who do you guys see as the ideal ‘Vlad the Impaler?’ Quite an interesting role to cast, huh? Spit some bullets below and let us know who you’d like to see star in the flick and be sure to keep it here for that very announcement as it comes our way!
