Eli Craig (Tucker and Dale VS. Evil) is in talks to direct the Zombieland TV show

Cable is so passé these days. That’s why Amazon is bringing us ZOMBIELAND the TV series, like we told you a couple of days ago. The digital service is now making original content to compete with Netflix, Hulu and other streaming channels, and the horror genre is its way to go.

The latest in the ZOMBIELAND tale is (drum-roll, please) that Eli Craig, director of the incredibly gory/funny flick TUCKER & DALE VS. EVIL, is in talks to direct the TV series like a champ.

Original writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick will return to write and produce with a little help from Gavin Polone. Ruben Fleischer, the director of the film version, is moving on to other stuff, so forget about him.

Having a show about flesh eaters is a no-brainer right now. THE WALKING DEAD is a huge hit and we have upcoming movies like WORLD WAR Z with Mr. Brad Pitt, yup even MEET JOE BLACK was attracted by the zombie power, and the horror/comedy WARM BODIES who could be as good (hopefully) as SHAUN OF THE DEAD.

There’s no word on casting yet and the release date is still waiting to be filled, but I’m happy to hear Craig’s name is floating around. I’m curious now.
