We've been stoked about MANIAC remake director Franck Khalfoun's AMITYVILLE: THE AWAKENING ever since first laying eyes on the trailer for the haunted house horror, and we were bummed when Dimension Films delayed the flick's release, from January 2, 2015 to a yet-to-be-determined date. Earlier this year producer Jason Blum gave us a small update on the Jennifer Jason Leigh-starring film, but since then things have been quiet on the AMITYVILLE front. Until now…

The Motion Picture Association of America has released their latest ratings bulletin and we've learned two things: first, AMITYVILLE: THE AWAKENING has a new title – AMITYVILLE: THE REAWAKENING – and two, the film has been hit with an R-rating for 'strong horror violence and for language'.

There is still no news on when we can expect AMITYVILLE: THE REAWAKENING to arrive in theaters but we'll keep you posted.

“Belle, her little sister, and her comatose twin brother move into a new house with their single mother Joan in order to save money to help pay for her brother’s expensive healthcare. But when strange phenomena begin to occur in the house including the miraculous recovery of her brother, Belle begins to suspect her Mother isn’t telling her everything and soon realizes they just moved into the infamous Amityville house.”

AMITYVILLE: THE AWAKENING stars Jennifer Jason Leigh, Bella Thorne, McKenna Grace, Cameron Monaghan, Taylor Spreitler, Thomas Mann and Jennifer Morrison.
