Get caught up in the web of Big Ass Spider in October

Epic Pictures Releasing has set an October 18, 2013 theatrical and VOD release date for Mike Mendez’s creature comedy BIG ASS SPIDER!, according to Screen Daily.

The festival hit, which stars Greg Grunberg, Ray Wise and Lin Shaye, is a tongue-in-cheek monster mash with perhaps the perfect title. We've been stoked to check this one out ever since we first shared the cheesy trailer with you back in February. We were further sold on Mendez's crazy-looking flick when we got ahold of a face-melting clip back in March. The film received its festival debut at SXSW earlier this year and also stars Claire Kramer and Lombardo Boyar.

A 50 foot tall alien spider escapes from a military lab and rampages the city of Los Angeles. When a massive military strike fails, it is up to a team of scientists, soldiers, and one clever exterminator to kill the creature before the city is destroyed.

I'm excited to see BIG ASS SPIDER! finally getting a release, especially so close to Halloween. This one should make for a fun evening of mindless entertainment. We'll keep you posted on news regarding BIG ASS SPIDER! as it rolls in.
