Harrison Ford talks Blade Runner sequel: “I’m quite curious and excited”

The idea of a BLADE RUNNER sequel hasn't sit well with a lot of fans of the 1982 classic but it seems that Harrison Ford is keen to get back into the skin of Deckard if a recent AMA on Reddit is any indication. If he's game for it then I'm up for seeing what Ridley Scott is cooking up for the long-in-development follow up.

Back in October of last year we shared that Ford had been approached about returning for the sequel, with the actor sharing, "Uh, yeah, we've been chatting about it" when pressed for confirmation by IGN. This weekend Ford submitted himself to a Reddit grilling in which he shared his thoughts on the long-mooted BLADE RUNNER sequel, and he's rather positive about the idea of continuing the story, sharing…

“I’m quite curious and excited about seeing a new script for Blade Runner. If in fact the opportunity would exist to do another, if it’s a good script I would be very anxious to work with Ridley Scott again. He’s a very talented and passionate filmmaker."

Despite painful memories of a BLADE RUNNER shoot he still remembers as the most difficult he's experienced (with 50 night shoots in a row and almost constant rain), he said that he's keen to return to the role of Deckard, stating…

"I think it would be very interesting to revisit the character.”

Back in May of last year, BLADE RUNNER 2 production company Alcon Entertainment announced that it had hired Michael Green (THE GREEN LANTERN) to re-write the sequel's screenplay, which was originally penned by Hampton Fancher. Available story details, of course, are close to zilch.

Alcon co-founders and co-Chief Executive Officers Broderick Johnson and Andrew Kosove will produce BLADE RUNNER 2 with Bud Yorkin and Cynthia Sikes Yorkin, along with Ridley Scott. Frank Giustra and Tim Gamble, CEO’s of Thunderbird Films, will serve as executive producers.

Alcon and Yorkin previously announced that they are partnering to produce BLADE RUNNER theatrical sequels and prequels, in addition to all television and interactive productions.

So let us hear your thoughts below. Are you down for a sequel to BLADE RUNNER?
