Nic Cage to play vigilante for William Friedkin in I Am Wrath?!

Here's a project that could end up a winner. A vigilante thriller called I AM WRATH, which has a handful of very interesting names attached: Nicolas Cage, William Friedkin, Curtis '50 Cent' Jackson... You know, the usual.

According to Deadline.com, Cage is set to star in the picture, which is being produced by Emmett/Furla Films (RAMBO, THE TOMB). Friedkin, who is enjoying a resurgence thanks to his twisted dark comedy KILLER JOE, is evidently "circling," but nothing is official yet.

Here's how Deadline describes the plot: Following the murder of his wife, Stanley (Cage) finds that the police are unable to catch the perpetrators. He uncovers a thick plot of police corruption and realizes that he will have to find justice on his own. As he awakens to the level of degradation of the people sworn to serve and protect, we get a little Rage in the Cage as he becomes a vigilante out to destroy those who abuse their power.

Perhaps the coolest participant in this project? Actor/screenwriter Paul Sloan, who is a friend of the Arrow in the Head Podcast from way back. I AM WRATH was penned by Sloan, based on an idea by Yvan Gauthier.

Emmett and Furla are producing with Cheetah Vision Films’ Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, Grindstone’s Barry Brooker & Stan Wertlieb, Vallelonga Productions’ Nick Vallelonga, Richard Salvatore & David Omston.

Extra Tidbit: Emmet/Furla have worked with Cage on THE WICKER MAN and the upcoming serial killer drama THE FROZEN GROUND (co-starring Vanessa Hudgens, pictured above).
