You want HELLBOY 3 to happen, but you don’t want it as badly as Ron Perlman does. The actor called upon his Twitter followers last week to voice their support for the long-awaited sequel, which doesn’t appear to be close to happening any time soon, and he received a very enthusiastic response. Now the actor is talking up the film again, this time in person at the Monte Carlo Television Awards.

Here are Perlman’s comments regarding whether or not HELLBOY 3 is actually a possibility:

There’s always a chance… I don’t have any news for you. But I’m getting to that age where if I wait any longer, Hellboy 3 will be performed out of a wheelchair, so I was basically trying to say if there’s gonna be this thing it should be sooner rather than later.

When posed with the question of whether or not a crowd-funding campaign would be the way to go, Perlman bluntly shot the idea down:

I wouldn’t want to be involved in a crowd-funding, I don’t think it’s the fans’ job to fund the movie, it’s up to the people who do it professionally. I think it’s the fans’ job to sit back and buy popcorn and Coke and watch the movie and enjoy it.

Not to mention the fact that the budget of HELLBOY 3 would probably be around $100 million, so that’s no easy crowd-fund. But the real question is, would Guiilermo del Toro be available to make this happen? The man’s always got a full plate, and he’s currently occupied with putting the finishing touches on CRIMSON PEAK while preparing PACIFIC RIM 2. In the past he’s seemed both excited about the idea of making HELLBOY 3 and willing to let it go… Would they dare hire a new helmer to continue the Hellboy saga?
