SXSW hit Don’t Leave Home summons new poster & release date

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

At this past year's SXSW Film Festival we saw the premiere of writer-director Michael Tully's horror-thriller DON'T LEAVE HOME. Shortly after the film debuted at the Texas festival, it was snatched up for distribution via the powers that be over at Cranked Up Films. And today we not only know when they plan on dropping the film on the masses, but we also have an all-new poster for the film to share with you guys today as well.

First off, let's cover the film's release date, which will be upon us come September 14th. The movie will be hitting selective theaters and VOD on that date so make sure to mark your calendars. The film stars Anna Margaret Hollyman, Lalor Roddy, Helena Bereen, David McSavage, and Karrie Cox and follows this plot synopsis:

After recently unveiling her new sculptural exhibit on Irish urban legends, artist Melanie Thomas is contacted by Father Alistair Burke, a reclusive Irish priest who, legend has it, once painted the portrait of a young girl who later disappeared on the very day her image vanished from the painting. Now, summoned by Burke and his cohort to the Irish countryside for a special art commission, Melanie eagerly accepts the offer, never stopping to consider that some urban legends might be true. Being praised as “GET OUT with Catholic guilt in the Irish countryside” (Indiewire), DON’T LEAVE HOME proves that not all mysteries should be solved.

The new poster for the film can be seen below. What do you think? Truthfully, the poster is cool and all, but it kinda looks like a mixture of CABIN FEVER and THE CHURCH to me. And that could actually be a really cool movie in and of itself. How about we call it CHURCH FEVER! No. No, that's not a good title…

DON'T LEAVE HOME was produced by Walter S. Hall, George M. Rush, Ryan Zacarias, and TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE remake producer Jeffrey Allard. The movie will be hitting select theaters and VOD on September 14th.
