The weirdness continues in an extended trailer for Aronofsky's mother!

mother! Jennifer Lawrence Darren Aronofsky

Darren Aronofsky's horror film mother! is still managing to keep its secrets as its release date draws near, even after it has been screened at the Venice Film Festival. The audience there apparently had a very split reaction to it - as the end credits started to roll, the vocal response was a mixture of "boos and wild applause".

While there definitely seems to be a ROSEMARY'S BABY influence on mother! (a poster was certainly directly influenced by ROSEMARY'S BABY), we still don't know what's really going on in this story. The official synopsis says:

A couple’s relationship is tested when uninvited guests arrive at their home, disrupting their tranquil existence.

What we do know is that mother! stars Jennifer Lawrence, Javier Bardem, Michelle Pfeiffer, Domhnall Gleeson, Ed Harris, and Kristen Wiig, and that things are going to get very weird at that couple's home.

A new trailer for mother! has arrived online and can be seen below. It's called an "extended" trailer, but I'm not sure what it's extended from - the previous trailer was longer than this one is. Anyway, it brings another look at Aronofsky's secretive film, has some new footage and shows some creepy moments. Best of all is the presence of Ed Harris, who doesn't have nearly enough horror movies on his filmography.

mother! is set to reach theatres on September 15th.
