One of the very best staples of the horror genre – and to a more specific degree the slasher subgenre – is the trope of the final girl. The final girl, for those who might not know, was coined by author Carol J. Clover in her book Men, Women, and Chainsaws: Gender in the Modern Horror Film.
The term refers to "the last woman alive to confront the killer, ostensibly the one left to tell the story."
We all know, love, and expect the trope. And, thankfully, most – if not all – fright flicks abide with the standard. That said, there are a few final girls that stick out above the rest and the new JoBlo/AITH video countdown series has chosen to take a look at the top 10 final girls for the first episode of the newly revamped series.
