Interview: Dune Stars Josh Brolin and Javier Bardem

Dune is finally arriving this week in theatres. And what a wait it’s been. Fans of Frank Herbert’s original work are finally going to witness what Denis Villeneuve has brought to the silver screen. And my goodness, what a stunning work it is. The new film features Timothee Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Zendaya, Oscar Isaac, Jason Momoa, Stellan Skarsgard, Josh Brolin, Javier Bardem, and more. With such a beautiful creation, it’s likely to please those looking forward to this impressive feature film. As glorious as Villeneuve’s work is, it’s all the more exciting to be able to see his latest in IMAX this Friday. There is much to admire from the first half of this two-part experience, and I’m happy to say I’ll be returning to witness it again myself.

A few weeks ago, JoBlo was especially thrilled to be a part of the film’s press festivities. It was especially great to speak with both Josh Brolin and Javier Bardem. The cast made themselves available while the film made an appearance at the Venice Film Festival, and thankfully, we had the power of Zoom to connect. The conversation may have been brief, but it was an absolute pleasure chatting with the two about taking both of their characters – Brolin portrayed Gurney Hallek, and Bardem took on Stilgar. The two opened up about working with Denis, as well as their relationship with the source material. Dune is finally arriving in theatres on October 22, and I highly recommend this stunning flick! See this one in IMAX if you can because it’s a thing of beauty.
