Now that we’ve got Jeremy Renner back in the public eye–appearing in a highly publicized interview with Diane Sawyer and ready to step out for the premiere of his Rennervations reality show on April 11th–he doesn’t seem interested in stepping away. His most recent appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! gave Renner even more exposure, something that once cluttered his schedule.

After being introduced as “the indestructible Jeremy Renner” (rightfully so!), the actor stepped from behind the curtain, far more jovial than most men with a cane, clearly happy to be moving following his January 1st accident that left him with 30+ broken bones and undergoing multiple surgeries. Despite the life-threatening accident, Renner did find his own “silver lining” of being tied to a hospital bed. “My first conscious thought [after the surgeries] was like, ‘Holy hell, my calendar’s freed up for the rest of the year!’ I was making so many plans–I was gonna buy a boat, I was gonna live in Mexico…because my year was pretty jammed up until I got crushed.” That’s certainly a more amusing thought than those that rushed through his head on New Year’s Day, in which he began jotting down “last words” to his loves ones.

Jimmy Kimmel spent deserved time praising Jeremy Renner, saying, “Now if there was any question as to who the toughest Avenger was, that’s settled now. Forget Hemsworth, forget these guys, it’s you, you’re the guy.” He also put into words what many of Renner’s fans have been thinking. “I think I speak for all of us when I say, thank God, look at you, you look great. We’re glad to see you here.”

Jeremy Renner also gave more details on the accident during the interview, saying, while he’s lucky, the moment was literally eye-popping. It “missed every vertebra, [it] didn’t hit any organs, my brain didn’t swell, nothing like that. My eye did pop out, that’s weird but yeah…I got very lucky that none of the organs got messed up.”

How do you feel about Jeremy Renner’s road to recovery under the media spotlight? What sorts of projects do you want to see him involved with going forward?
