Jumanji: The Next Level trailer sucks you back into the game

When JUMANJI: WELCOME TO THE JUNGLE hit theaters in 2017, it was met with more acclaim than some had expected, earning rave reviews and amassing almost $1 billion around the world. A sequel was quickly put into production, and while getting sucked into a video game again seemed even more farfetched than the first time, the first trailer for JUMANJI: THE NEXT LEVEL shows you just how they put another spin on the formula.

Assembling the same crew from the last movies, including Jumanji game characters Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black and Karen Gillan, with the real-world cast of Ser'Darius Blain, Madison Iseman, Morgan Turner, Alex Wolff and newcomers Danny DeVito and Danny Glover. While the four teens merged into the game characters, now it’s switched up a bit, with DeVito transferring into Johnson’s Smolder Bravestone, and Glover merging into Hart’s "Mouse" Finbar. Yes, last time we saw Johnson acting out the personality of a nervous teenager, and now we will see him exuding his inner DeVito.

The last movie was a total blast that nailed the comedy and the action, with the leading stars making the most use out of different personalities. This time around it looks just as fun as before, and it looks to change things up just enough to give the stars more wiggle room to play with. Everyone had theories about how they would tackle the material again, but I don't think anyone expected DeVito and Glover to enter the game, and for Johnson and Hart to get to bring them to life. It's not something we exactly asked for, but we should be so happy to receive nonetheless.

Here's the synopsis:

In Jumanji: The Next Level, the gang is back but the game has changed. As they return to Jumanji to rescue one of their own, they discover that nothing is as they expect. The players will have to brave parts unknown and unexplored, from the arid deserts to the snowy mountains, in order to escape the world's most dangerous game.

JUMANJI: THE NEXT LEVEL hits theaters December 13.
