Leonardo DiCaprio may play Joker in new origin film?!

While this is interesting news and comes to us from a reliable source (THR), we're going to just label this story within the realms of rumor for the time being. That said, it does appear that Warner Bros. is courting megastar Leonardo DiCaprio to star as Joker in their upcoming JOKER origin movie.

This makes a bit of sense considering the studio recently announced that director Martin Scorsese will be producing the new take on the classic character. But on the bit more shady side, insiders (whatever that means) are saying that the only reason the studio hired Scorsese in the first place was in an attempt to get the master filmmaker to bring DiCaprio into their DC Universe.

Scandalous, I say.

This hasn't been confirmed, but given the fact that DiCaprio as JOKER could sell more tickets than Fathom events sponsoring the literal "Return of the Christ" maybe this was WB's plan all along…

But we're not here to speculate, and reps for Warner Bros, DiCaprio, and Scorsese declined to comment. So there's (pretty much) your answer right there.
