If a filmmaker says they're putting together a werewolf movie with the creature at the heart of the story being realized entirely through practical effects, no CGI needed, they have my attention. If they add legendary scream queen Linnea Quigley into the mix, they'll have made their werewolf movie a must-see for me. These things are exactly what director Todd Sheets has done while making his werewolf film BONEHILL ROAD, which is so old school that it will even be coming out on VHS, in addition to the expected DVD and Blu-ray.
BONEHILL ROAD is a dream project for Sheets, and the 25th feature he has made since he began shooting movies on video back in 1989. An homage to werewolf classics like AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON, THE HOWLING, and DOG SOLDIERS, it doesn't appear to have an official synopsis available – the practical werewolf is the selling point. Along with the presence of Quigley.
The film had its world premiere screening at the Screenland Armour Theater in Kansas City last month, and will be making its film festival premiere at the Buffalo Dreams Fantastic Film Festival this Saturday, November 4th. The Buffalo Dreams program warns that BONEHILL ROAD is "not for the squeamish".
Sheets expects BONEHILL ROAD to get its home video release sometime in 2018, so we'll let you know when the dates are locked in.
