Lizzy Caplan to star in Marianne creator’s Cobweb, produced by Seth Rogen

It has been two years since Lionsgate vice chairman Michael Burns said, "We used to own horror. We're going to own it again." The next genre film to be announced by Lionsgate after that statement was made was COBWEB, and now COBWEB is finally ready to go into production. Filming is set to begin in Sofia, Bulgaria later this month.

Lizzy Caplan has signed on to star in the film, which will be directed by Samuel Bodin (creator of the Netflix series Marianne) from a screenplay by Chris Thomas Devlin. COBWEB is set in

a small town, in an ordinary house that seems like any other, where a young boy hears a mysterious tapping from inside the walls – and suspects his parents are hiding a terrible secret.

Woody Norman will be playing the boy mentioned in the synopsis, Peter. Caplan and Antony Starr will be playing Peter's parents, Carol and Mark. Cleopatra Coleman is also on board to play Miss Devine, "Peter's substitute teacher who is filling in at the local elementary school."

COBWEB is being produced by Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, and James Weaver of Point Grey, Roy Lee of Vertigo Entertainment, and Jon Berg. Jim Miller and Meredith Wieck are overseeing the project for Lionsgate.

I've been looking forward to this film ever since its announcement was paired with Burns' comment about Lionsgate taking back ownership of horror. I'm very interested in seeing how it's going to turn out.
