The fine folks over at Ain’t It Cool News scored a new trailer for Robert Rodriguez’s MACHETE in honor of today being Cinco de Mayo, and in honor of Arizona pushing the most ridiculous immigration law this side of Nazi Germany.
For a sense of ironic justice (or something), check out the synopsis for MACHETE: The highly skilled Federale Machete is hired by some unsavory types to assassinate a senator. But just as he’s about to take the shot, he notices someone aiming at him and realizes he’s been set up. He barely survives the sniper’s bullet, and is soon out for revenge on his former employers, with the reluctant assistance of his old friend Cheech Marin, who has become a priest and taken a vow of nonviolence. If you hire him to take out the bad guys, make sure the bad guys aren’t you!
Ok, so that’s not really ironic. But the storyline in which Machete is fighting for the rights of Mexican immigrants is. And that’s where his message to Arizona is aimed: don’t f*ck with this Mexican! Sure, it’s essentially the most recent MACHETE trailer, but it drops a few F bombs, there’s some blood here and there, and a whole new introduction from Machete (Danny Trejo) himself.
