Hells yeah bitches! Looks like our prayers have
been answered, as Fred Dekker’s cult classic MONSTER SQUAD has finally
been given a July 24th release date.

For those of you not familiar with this 80’s
classic, here’s the official synopsis as provided by

DVD Empire
(Although can anyone truly give
justice to MONSTER SQUAD on paper?) :

Count Dracula adjourns to Earth,
accompanied by Frankenstein’s Monster, the Wolfman, the Mummy, and the Gillman.
The uglies are in search of a powerful amulet that will grant them power to rule
the world. Our heroes – the Monster Squad are the only ones daring to stand in
their way.

This was one of those movies for me that helped
foster my love for horror as a child and I still pop in the ole’ VHS every now
and again for a bit of nostalgia. This news not only excites me because I’ll be
able to see MONSTER SQUAD clearly and cleaned up, but it may lend hope
that the future will soon give us Dekker’s other horror classic on DVD sometime
in the near future; NIGHT OF THE CREEPS!

Thanks to The Godfather for the sweet
heads-up!
