10 years of Lebowski!

THE BIG LEBOWSKI is celebrating its 10-year anniversary this year and to celebrate, Rolling Stone sat down with stars Jeff Bridges, Steve Buscemi, John Goodman, Philip Seymour Hoffman and Julianne Moore to talk about the movie and its cultural impact. Here are some excerpts from the story:

Jeff Bridges – “[The Dude] should be president!”

Philip Seymour Hoffman – “The Dude abides, and I think that’s something people really yearn for, to be able to live their life like that. You can see why young people would enjoy that.”

Julianne Moore – “I keep saying that one of these days I’m going to go to a Lebowski Fest.”

Steve Buscemi – “It’s just great writing and it goes in unexpected places. And each individual scene is like this brilliant short film. And then it all comes together? but I can’t explain it. I think there’s something unexplainable about it. There’s some mystery to it that keeps people coming back, that they want to see it again and again.”

John Goodman – “It’s the favorite thing I’ve ever worked on.”

That’s just the tip of the iceberg as the article includes more quotes from Lebowski fans (like Jim James of My Morning Jacket and screenwriter John Milius, the supposed inspiration for Walter) and Bridges rummaging through his garage to find The Dude’s iconic sweater (which he forces the interviewer to wear while he takes pics with a cell phone cam).  You can read all about it here and read all about our trip to LebowskiFest earlier this year.
