A remake of An American Werewolf in London still threatens to become real

It’s been over a year since we heard that Dimension wanted to remake the hairy, scary monster masterpiece AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON, and while the horror faithful figured that following silence was a positive, no such luck.

Dimension hasn’t forgotten about repackaging and/or defecating on your memories of the terrifying John Landis classic, and (despite their ongoing and much-publicized financial woes) the studio is looking for a writer to “give it a modern spin” — and the LA Times says it could be Fernley Phillips, who wrote the Jim Carrey attempted-thriller THE NUMBER 23.

While once a haven for genre goodies, Dimension has more recently focused on anything but original material — future plans include more SCARY MOVIE and SCREAM entries, another sequel to their HALLOWEEN remake, and new versions of HELLRAISER and SCANNERS, among others.
