Black Panther unveils partnership with Lexus ahead of San Diego Comic-Con

Ahead of this year's San Diego Comic Con event, Marvel Studios has unveiled a partnership between Lexus and the upcoming superhero film BLACK PANTHER. When you see the film, you'll no doubt get an eyeful of the 2018 Lexus LC, as it cruises through the streets, looking nearly as cool as the film's titular hero does. As a part of the celebration, both Marvel and Lexus will host an invite-only party on Friday at San Diego Comic-Con with a performance by DJ Lulo Cafe as well as a mystery headliner.

When speaking about the merger, Brian Bolain, general manager of Lexus marketing, had stated, "Marvel continuously captures audiences through charismatic characters and inspiring stories — the ideal fit for Lexus’ mission to craft amazing, engaging experiences, and the LC’s aggressive styling, high performance and agile handling are a perfect fit for the Black Panther’s quick, cat-like reflexes and superhuman feats. We’re excited to see the duo in action.”

In addition to the Lexus LC appearing in the cinematic superhero adventure, veteran comic book writer Fabian Nicieza will join forces with artists Scott "Rahzzah" Wilson and Szymon Kudranski to create a comic in which Black Panther bests a villain with the help of the sleek automobile. Mindy Hamilton, Marvel’s SVP of global partnerships, expressed her enthusiasm for the opportunity by saying, "This campaign clicked from the get-go. We have this bold, sophisticated hero stepping into the spotlight for the first time, and it’s been a blast to work with the Lexus team to build out a story that’ll familiarize fans with T’Challa as well as his advanced home nation of Wakanda.”

Now, the question that's burning a hole in my mind is this: Does the Lexus LC 500 come with a limited edition Black Panther hood ornament? If the answer is no, I'll kindly take all the money that I don't have elsewhere, thank you very much. I'll also say this; even though I'm not a car guy per say, that is one sweet-looking ride. I can totally see Chadwick Boseman sporting around in one of these. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if Lexus were to gift him one as a part of the deal. After all, it's good to be the king.

BLACK PANTHER opens in theaters beginning on February 16, 2018.
