Carol Danvers meets Supreme Intelligence in new Captain Marvel clip

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

The upcoming superhero movie CAPTAIN MARVEL stars an impressive cast including Brie Larson, Jude Law, Samuel L. Jackson, Gemma Chan, Djimon Hounsou, Ben Mendelsohn and more. Among the ranks is Oscar-nominee Annette Bening, who until recently has had her role kept hidden from reveal. Now thanks to a new clip we’ve learned that Bening will be playing Supreme Intelligence, a highly-sophisticated form of artificial intelligence and ruler of the Kree, and in the clip, she breaks down the biggest threat to the galaxy to our title hero.

Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel may be able to fire photon beams out of her arms and barrel through space, but she doesn’t know everything, and before she started cracking Skrull heads she had to get some info. In the clip, she gets some answers by Intelligence, who informs her about the Skrulls, the enemy of the Kree, before she heads into battle. It’s by no means a long clip, but it obviously reveals Bening’s character and shows Danvers as a trained, direct, even blunt soldier – not unlike Captain America (Chris Evans) when we met him. In the comics, Supreme Intelligence is a super computer of sort, made up of the brains of all of the Kree’s greatest minds. Part of its powers is it can project android forms, one Bening is likely playing here.

Bening stopped by The Late Show with Stephen Colbert to talk about the movie and debut the clip, wherein she revealed the script left her confused. Understandably, she had no clue what was going on with her character or anything else, and she said she ended up asking her kids what all was happening. That being said, Bening, known more for her lauded work in movies like AMERICAN BEAUTY and THE KIDS ARE ALL RIGHT, said she had the time of her life on the movie and that “every moment was such a joy.” She even talked about being put on a plane and being flown to a secret location for filming, which sounds like some James Bond shit.
