As the summer movie season chugs along, many are already looking forward to the return of their favorite television series this fall. With ARROW and AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. proving that comic books can make for good small screen entertainment, there will be some news shows joining the fray including THE FLASH and Marvel’s AGENT CARTER. Possibly the most exciting of the bunch is FOX’s Batman origin series GOTHAM.

Harkening back to the very beginning of Bruce Wayne’s tale, GOTHAM will focus on Detective James Gordon as he investigates crime in Gotham City. Promising the origins of villains like The Penguin, The Riddler, Poison Ivy, and more, GOTHAM could be really cool or an failed experiment. But if one thing is for sure, it looks dark and gritty just the way a Batman series should be.

Entertainment Weekly has revealed eight new character posters for the series bearing the tagline “The Good. The Evil. The Beginning.” Most of these are images we have seen before, but we now have better looks at Poison Ivy as a child as well as Edward Nygma. Showrunner Bruno Heller has teased the idea in the past of bringing The Joker on in the future and now there are rumblings that Mr. Freeze may appear as well.

I am excited to see if GOTHAM can live up to it’s potential. It all will depend on the pilot and whether the actors can play the characters as well as they resemble them. Here’s hoping we get new footage at Comic Con.

GOTHAM premieres this Fall on FOX.
