Ewan McGregor in talks to join Disney's live-action Christopher Robin film

Have you ever heard the theory that each character featured in Winnie the Pooh represents a different mental disorder? It's a fascinating angle to consider for sure, but we have other information for you to chew on as well. It's been announced this afternoon that Ewan McGregor is officially in talks to star in Disney's live-action CHRISTOPHER ROBIN film.

Set to be helmed by WORLD WAR Z and SOLACE director Marc Forster, the film will center on the whimsical young boy from A.A. Milne's Winnie the Pooh series - only, he's all grown up in this forthcoming tale from the House of Mouse. The Hollywood Reporter is saying that McGregor will play the adult version of Christopher Robin, who's unfortunately lost his sense of imagination after becoming a businessman who focuses too much on his work that he's forgotten his friends who reside in the Hundred Acre Wood.

Furthermore, Oscar-nominated screenwriter Allison Schroeder of HIDDEN FIGURES fame will be lending her skills to a new version of the existing script. Alex Ross Perry wrote the screenplay, with Tom McCarthy working on a later draft. It's also worth noting that THE JUNGLE BOOK producer Bringham Taylor will produce the project for Disney.

A.A. Milne created the Christopher Robin character by naming him after his own son, Christopher Robin Milne. Since that time, Disney has adapted Robin, and the Winnie the Pooh animal characters, into several animated projects, including the 1988 series THE NEW ADVENTURES OF WINNIE THE POOH and the 2011 animated film WINNIE THE POOH.

While I'm quite curious and excited about this film, I can't help but think the plot sounds an awful lot like Steven Spielberg's 1991 Peter Pan-inspired fantasy adventure HOOK. While I'm sure that CHRISTOPHER ROBIN will differ from the Robin Williams-led experience, I'm going to need a trailer in order to determine just how much. Either way, I'll be keeping a close eye on this one as it develops.

Meanwhile, you can catch Ewan McGregor in T2 Trainspotting, which I believe will arrive on Digital, DVD, and Blu-Ray some time in June of this year.

Extra Tidbit: Everyone has met at least one Eeyore in their lifetime.
