Faux campaign ads for the Will Ferrell and Zack Galifianakis comedy The Campaign

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

As a fan of both Will Ferrell and Zack Galifianakis, THE CAMPAIGN looks to be like a lot of fun.  Ferrell has cemented his satire of politics with his George W. Bush impersonation and Galifianakis as a “small-town” Congressman is pitch perfect for the bearded comedian.  Director Jay Roach has been tackling political drama on HBO with both RECOUNT and GAME CHANGE, so he’s definitely warmed up to the genre and is probably ready to hit the satire button at this point.

In an attempt to start the “promotional campaign” for the film, we have two spots for each candidate, both equally funny.  The tone is firmly set in the vein of these two comics’ personas, so it’s pretty much what you’d expect from them, which is a good thing.

Make sure you’re registered to vote and check out their spots:

I wasn’t sure about this one when it was announced, but these faux ads look promising.  At a time when politicians seem to be less and less respected, this seems like a pretty timely comedy.  Okay, so there’s never a time when that’s not the case, but still.  These aren’t but-gusting funny, but they’re a nice little slice of viral marketing, if not kind of expected due to the film’s theme.

I’m onboard to see more, though, and have high hopes for a good comedy from the duo.

THE CAMPAIGN takes office on August 10, 2012.
