INT: Richard Kelly

I loved Richard Kelly’s DONNIE DARKO. It was a fascinating trip into the world of time travel and of course, scary bunny costumes. Yet SOUTHLAND TALES was a completely different experience. At times I thought it brilliant, and other times I found it ridiculous. I still feel there is something more than what I saw and actually plan to check it out again. Thus, I respect the fact that Richard wanted to make something completely different from anything else out at your local multiplex.

When I sat down with Richard, we talked a little about the Book of Revelations and the Apocalypse. We also got a chance to talk about working with Cameron Diaz in his upcoming feature THE BOX. He is a fascinating guy and he seems to have every idea as to what he is trying to say. Whether you like SOUTHLAND TALES or not, you’’ll remember it.
