The first IT movie certainly earned its R-rating thanks to buckets of blood and intense terror – but mostly for the immense amounts of blood. With IT: CHAPTER TWO the young Loser’s Club is all grown up and back for more clown-based horror – which no doubt means more blood – and star Jessica Chastain spilled the beans about one particular scene that she heard had apparently used the most fake blood ever used in a single horror movie scene.

The actress and star of two of this summer’s most anticipated movies – X-MEN: DARK PHOENIX and IT: CHAPTER 2 – was on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon recently when Fallon began probing about the horror sequel. After some hesitation, the rebellious Chastain decided to dish some potential spoilers like a boss and revealed the gory little detail.

“I’m gonna say something and I think I’m gonna be in trouble but I’m gonna do it. It might be a spoiler, but in the movie there’s a scene that someone said on set that it’s the most blood that’s ever been in a horror film, in a scene. The next day I was pulling [fake] blood out of my eyeballs.”

Now, when you think about literal rivers of blood, you may imagine the elevator doors opening in THE SHINING or, more recently, the geyser of blood that sprays out of the sink in 2017’s IT, dousing the young Beverly Marsh (Sophia Lillis) and her whole bathroom. Now, if what Chastain heard on set is true, then that means we can expect to see, perhaps, a literal waterfall of blood being used during one scene. I mean, she said she was pulling it from her eyeballs, people.

That sounds like all kinds of awesome, and September can’t come fast enough. Warner Bros. is keeping this thing under tight lock and key to avoid spoilers, and we haven’t gotten so much as official images yet featuring the adult gang (Chastain, James McAvoy, Bill Hader, Andy Bean, Isaiah Mustafa, James Ransone) and the returning Pennywise (Bill Skarsgard). But, the first trailer for the 2017 movie debuted around this same time (March 29, to be exact), so perhaps this next month or so will be when they start rolling out the big, bloody details.

IT: CHAPTER TWO hits theaters September 6.
