Michael Fassbender in talks to join Danny Boyle thriller

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

Look at Michael Fassbender. He’s so happy. Why is he so happy? Well just three years ago he was a little known actor struggling to make ends meet and now he’s on the verge of A-list and offered just about every male lead role in Hollywood. (I’m guessing Fassbender’s favorite film is PAUL as it was Simon Pegg’s commitment to that film that forced him to bow out of INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS, leaving him role of Lt. Archie Hicox.)

Another one of those roles that Fassbender has been offered is the lead in TRANCES, the new thriller directed by Danny Boyle. Fassbender is in talks to star in the film, which is a remake of a 2001 British TV movie of the same name. In the film, Fassbender would star as the mastermind of an art heist who suffers amnesia after a brutal blow to the head. He was the only one who knew of the location of their booty and his gang begins to suspect a double-cross and hires a hypnotist to find out the truth. The original TV movie was described as “‘VERTIGO meets THE MANCHURIAN CANDIDATE.”

Boyle will begin shooting the movie this fall but will put the footage on the shelf while he devotes himself to his gig as the Master of Ceremonies for the 2012 Olympics in London. Once his responsibilities there have finished, he will return to editing the film and release likely won’t be until 2013 sometime.

Fassbender is currently shooting PROMETHEUS with Ridley Scott and has X-MEN: FIRST CLASS set for release next month.
