New Ready Player One image shows off Olivia Cooke’s character

READY PLAYER ONE brought the house down at Comic-Con this year, as our Lord and Savior Steven Spielberg debuted footage from what could be one of his most imaginative, ceaselessly enjoyable films to date. We may not get another trailer for some time, but thanks to Empire we do have a new look at one of the movie’s main characters – Samantha Evelyn Cook (a.k.a. Art3mis) played by Olivia Cooke.

The character looks like she’s stepping out of the virtual reality world – OASIS – and discovers our hero, Wade Watts (Tye Sheridan) marveling at her…gaming skills. Take a look and click to embiggen!

Cooke also spoke with Empire about the unrealness of working with Spielberg:

It felt like pure adventure. It was Willy Wonka, it was Indiana Jones. When you’re a kid wanting to be an actor, the idea of working with [Spielberg] sounds absurd. It was surreal.

There’s not much to go on based on the image other than giving readers of the book a visual of the character, which until a new trailer comes out is the most we can hope for. I adored Cooke in ME AND EARL AND THE DYING GIRL, and I’m thrilled she’s getting a chance to break out into bigger things, especially this massive Spielberg movie. Next thing you know she's getting cast as Batgirl, is winning awards, and then all of a sudden she only calls us once a year on Christmas…*sigh*
