Our first look at Ruby Rose as Batwoman swoops in

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Criminals, vandals, and supervillains beware, the CW has unleashed the first official look at Ruby Rose (ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK, JOHN WICK 2) as Batwoman for the Arrowverse’s upcoming “Elseworlds” crossover event. Armored up with a sleek super suit created by award-winning costume designer Colleen Atwood, Kate Kane is sporting a look that fans will find similar to her comic book counterpart, save for the scarlet snakeskin gradient pattern lining the underside of her cape – I believe that's new. Having been a fan of the character for nearly a decade, I can tell you first-hand that Atwood’s design is legit AF, and I can’t wait to see it in action.

After her guest appearance as part of the “Elseworlds” event, Ruby Rose will go on to star as Batwoman in her own pilot episode for a potential series headed up by producer Greg Berlanti, with Caroline Dries (SMALLVILLE, THE VAMPIRE DIARIES) serving as both the program’s writer and showrunner.

Here's your first look at Ruby Rose as Batwoman:

When the three-part “Elseworlds” crossover superhero lands on The CW, an aspect of the plot will find Tyler Hoechin’s Superman being introduced to Lois Lane (Elizabeth Tulloch), as well as Nora Fries (Cassandra Jean Amell), the wife of Mr. Freeze. The annual event will mark both character's small screen debut as members of the Arrowverse. Additionally, we know that Supergirl (Melissa Benoist), Green Arrow (Stephen Amell), and the Flash (Grant Gustin) will find themselves in Gotham City thanks to a scheme perpetrated by Dr. John Deegan, a mad doctor of Arkham Asylum played by LOST's Jeremy Davies. The event will also introduce fans to the Monitor (LaMonica Garrett), a known player in DC's multiverse comic book dealings.

It won't be long now before DC's slate of superhero shows come looking to put the hurt on your evening down time. The entertainment onslaught begins with THE FLASH, which is scheduled for an October 9 return for it's Season 5 premiere at 8 pm ET/PT. Next up is the sophomore season debut of BLACK LIGHTNING at 9 pm, followed by the start of SUPERGIRL Season 4 the next week on Sunday October 14th at 8 pm, with ARROW aiming to debut the following day on Monday, October 15 at 8 pm. Lastly, DC's LEGENDS OF TOMORROW will be back on Monday, October 22 at 9 pm. Meanwhile, the "Elseworlds" crossover event is scheduled to air over three nights, beginning on Sunday, December 9 through Tuesday, December 11. Be sure to mark your calendars accordingly.
