Reese off to Museum?

NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM was quite possibly one of the worst movies of 2006 and easily the biggest waste of talent. Who would’ve thought that a movie with Ben Stiller, Owen Wilson, Ricky Gervais and Carla Gugino would be so terrible?? Yet it made an insane amount of money ($252 million!!!) and a sequel is on the way. Fox has set up NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM 2: ESCAPE FROM THE SMITHSONIAN for a May 22, 2009 release with Ben Stiller set to return. In talks to join our bumbling security guard is Reese Witherspoon who would star as Amelia Earhart. I’m guessing her character would be the Robin Williams character from the first film. Robert Ben Garant and Thomas Lennon (RENO: 911) wrote the script with a rewrite by Scott Frank. If the May 22, 2009 sounded familiar to you it’s probably because AVATAR was originally scheduled to open that week. Fox has put MUSEUM on that date and has pushed back AVATAR to December 18th. Witherspoon is currently filming FOUR CHRISTMASES with Vince Vaughn while Stiller directs and stars in the Paramount comedy TROPIC THUNDER.
