Rosario Dawson to produce and star in USA Network's Briarpatch pilot

Rosario Dawson is a very busy woman these days. After making a brief appearance as her recurring character Claire Temple for Marvel and Netflix's LUKE CAGE Season 2, and lending her voice to the character of Wonder Woman for THE DEATH OF SUPERMAN, it's been announced that the SOMEONE GREAT and HENCHMEN actress will produce and star in USA Network's hour-long pilot BRIARPATCH.

Penned by Andy Greenwald and based on the Ross Thomas novel of the same name, BRIARPATCH centers on Allegra “Pick” Dill (Dawson), a tenacious and highly-skilled investigator working in Washington, DC for a young, ambitious Senator. When her ten-years-younger sister, a homicide detective, is killed by a car bomb, Allegra returns to her corrupt Texas hometown. What begins as a search for the murderer becomes a fraught and dangerous excavation of the past Allegra has long sought to bury.

In addition to writing the pilot, Greenwald will also act as the project's executive producer alongside MR. ROBOT creator Sam Esmail through Esmail Corp and Anonymous Content’s Chad Hamilton. Provided that the pilot is picked up for a full order, BRIARPATCH will be Dawson's first starring role on a network television series. When she's not acting in front of a camera, Dawson dedicates a portion of her time to a host of noteworthy organizations, such as Voto Latino, which she co-founded in 2004 to help educate Latino millennials about the importance of voting for change in today's government. As a woman of many talents, Dawson's star only continues to rise as she explores more possibilities and projects on the horizon.
