The trailer for A24’s Moonlight chronicles a man’s life in the 1980s

MOONLIGHT, the latest picture from distributor A24, tells the story of Chiron, a young man who comes of age during the War on Drugs era in Miami. Set in three different time periods as Chiron battles a deteriorating home life and deals with his dawning sexuality. Check out the trailer below!

I’m not familiar with “In Moonlight Black Boys Look Blue”, the play by Tarell Alvin McCraney on which this is based, but the trailer certainly grabs your attention. Then again, if you tell me that A24 is distributing another film, I’ll probably be first in line to see it, regardless of content. They remind me of Miramax circa the mid ’90s – bringing films to cinemas that other studios wouldn’t take a chance on. I’ll be curious to see what kind of reception this gets when it hits later this year!

MOONLIGHT opens in theaters on October 21, 2016.
