It seems the release strategy for the upcoming Steven Spielberg directed motion capture adaptation THE ADVENTURES OF TINTIN: THE SECRET OF THE UNICORN will be to focus on international markets. Sony and Paramount have decided to release the film stateside on December 23rd, 2011 but plan on releasing it internationally in late October and early November. Their thought process is that the Herge comic on which it’s based has had significantly more success internationally than it has stateside. Production on the film, which started in January, recently wrapped and it seems the dailies have convinced Spielberg and co. to release the film in 3D, something they’ve been debating since the film’s inception. Jamie Bell stars as the titular Belgian reporter whose adventure we follow alongside his trusty dog Snowy. The cast also includes Daniel Craig, Andy Serkis, Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, Gad Elmaleh, and Toby Jones. With the film being part of a proposed trilogy, Peter Jackson, who partnered with Spielberg when they decided to adapt the comic, will direct the second in the series.
