If you came to this site this morning hoping to find/read something to get you psyched for the rest of the day, then perhaps you should just turn around and wait for something else. Should you continue then you must prepare for a massive emotional gut-punch as actor Tom Hanks has taken to social media to post his last recording session as Woody for Pixar’s upcoming animated juggernaut – TOY STORY 4 – having played the character across four films for over 24 years. The sheer sense of finality to the post teases some serious emotional trauma on the way come summer, with Hanks writing in the caption “Final line, final session as Woody of Toy Story 4. We rode like the wind, to infinity and beyond. Hanx.”

In summer 2010 TOY STORY 3 hit theaters, and the way that movie ended we were all meant to believe that would be the final entry in the animated series – and it was suitably heart-wrenching. But only a few short years later a fourth movie was announced alongside a slew of new Pixar movies, and now the actors have teased this will be the true ending, with the filmmakers cooking up something seriously intense. Hanks spoke about his final day of recording back in November, saying he didn’t even want to face the crew, knowing he would be too emotional.

When I went in for my last day of recording, I wanted to have my back to them, because usually you're facing him so you can look right up and you can talk about it. But I didn't want to see them and I wanted to pretend they couldn't see me. When I realized what they were going for, I realized, 'Oh, this is a moment in history.

On top of that, Buzz Lightyear actor Tim Allen had also spoken on the epicness of the heartfelt new movie, saying he “couldn’t even get through the last scene,” teasing some scenes at the end that were “really tough to get through.” So yeah, prepare to be devastated some the end of TOY STOY 4, with childhoods for many viewers across the world truly coming to an end.

TOY STORY 4 is in theaters June 21.
