Tom Wilkinson, Isla Fisher join Burke and Hare, Serkis confirmed!

Right off the bat: THR’s Heat Vision confirms the tweet Simon Pegg shot off and quickly retracted on Wednesday stating that Andy Serkis would be stepping in for David Tennant (who’s stepped out to join the upcoming NBC pilot “Rex is Not My Lawyer”). Sucks for Tennant fans wanting to see him team up with Pegg and work with John Landis. On the bright side, though, you could do far worse than Andy Serkis who is coming off a just announced BAFTA nomination for his role in SEX & DRUGS & ROCK & ROLL. So props to him.

Now today, word’s coming in that Tom Wilkinson and Isla Fisher will be jumping aboard the BURKE AND HARE train. Here’s a brief rundown of the film from THR: “Written by Piers Ashworth and Nick Moorcroft, ‘Hare’ is based on the true story a pair of the U.K.’s earliest serial killers, William Burke and William Hare, gravediggers who lucratively sold the corpses of their victims to a medical college for dissection.”

Fisher will play Pegg’s girlfriend, an actress looking for a patron who may have been involved with the murders. Wilkinson will play Dr. Robert Knox, an anatomy lecturer looking for freshly deceased bodies.

Wilkinson just came off Michel Gondry’s THE GREEN HORNET and can next be seen in Roman Polanski’s political thriller THE GHOST WRITER. Fisher, somewhat surprisingly, hasn’t been up to much at all since last year’s CONFESSIONS OF A SHOPAHOLIC.

BURKE AND HARE is set to start shooting at the end of this month.
